2025 Fashion Forecast: What’s In and What’s Out

Happy New Year everyone! 2024 has passed fastly but not without a notice. Brat, Wicked, Demure, Sabrina Carpenter, The Eras Tour, The leopard print (which I talked about in my article-“Animal Prints: From the Wild to the Runway“) are one of the most influential trends of 2024. However now in 2025 we need to choose, what stays and what’s out.

What’s In for 2025 Fashion

Dark romance

Dark romance in fashion for 2025 blends gothic elegance with modern sensuality. Think Victorian silhouettes mixed with sleek, futuristic fabrics—lace, velvet, and leather alongside metallics. The palette of deep blacks, reds, and silvers creates an aura of mystery, combining vintage and futuristic vibes for a bold, dramatic look. Honestly I think it might it’s the effect after the new Nosferatu coming into theaters, but I’m not complaining since I love this look.

Polka dots

Polka dots in fashion for 2025 are a playful mix of retro charm and modern flair. Classic dots in bold, contrasting colors are paired with unexpected fabrics and sleek silhouettes. The look is fun yet sophisticated, with a nod to vintage style while embracing contemporary twists. Polka dots add a quirky, fresh energy to both casual and high-fashion pieces. I am so excited for those to come back, since being a child I have loved some fun dots and now it making a come back is like going back to my childhood.

Lace

Lace in fashion for 2025 is a blend of delicate romance and bold edge. Soft, intricate patterns are paired with modern cuts and unexpected materials, creating a contrast of feminine elegance and contemporary strength. Lace is much connected to the dark romance I have spoken about before. It will take the place of leopard print in 2024 or the cow print in 2021. I adore lace in any outfit but watching latest trends I am really scared fast fashion will make it tacky.

Boho Chic

Boho chic in 2025 combines effortless, free-spirited style with modern sophistication. Flowing fabrics, earthy colors, and eclectic prints are updated with sleek silhouettes and luxe details. In the lead are Chloé, Isabel Marant and (shockingly after the come back of suits in their collection) Yves Saint Laurent. I have never been a big fan of boho but the chic part is really speaking to me.

What’s Out for 2025 Fashion

Micro Fashion Trends

To be honest I really want to be right with this one. I have been so utterly sick with all the micro trends we have gone through in this year. The amount of aesthetics in fast fashion are crazy, starting with the “Clean girl” aesthetic to “Mob wife” and ending with the “Fisherman daughter”. I hope this year we can start developing our own styles and not looking at (or judging) anyone else.

Tacky prints

As much as we have calmed down with the logos, the horrible in quality prints have been rolling with us the whole year. I have loved all animal prints my whole life, but the importance lies in the quality. Simple and sleek is the new way to stand out.

Overconsumption

Overconsumption is out for 2025, and sustainability is officially in. As the fashion world becomes more eco-conscious, the focus has shifted from buying endlessly to curating a thoughtful, lasting wardrobe. With the environmental impact of fast fashion becoming clearer, we are now prioritizing quality over quantity. I hope all of us can understand that we don’t really need as much as most of the brands led on. The shift away from overconsumption also means embracing a more intentional, curated wardrobe, rather than mindlessly following every trend.
